All the Firearms Training Classes Offered at SharpShooters

We offer a lot of training classes. A LOT of training classes. Sometimes, it’s difficult for even us to keep up with what’s what when and who. And we’re adding more classes every week as our instructors learn and get great experiences that they can pass on to our customers. That’s what’s really at the core of a great training organization: experience. We’re not “a great training organization” yet. We will be, and one of the reasons we will be is that we are actively investing in the training, education, and experience of our instructors. We want them to do stuff that very few people get to do, so they can pass on that knowledge and experience to anyone and everyone else they teach.

Just today, I was scrolling through Instagram, and saw Lena Miculek’s latest post, in which she’s about to spend the next 30 days at Sig Sauer Academy teaching. Here’s what she said:

all knowledge and experience not shared is wasted.

@lena_miculek

That sums up exactly half of our approach to training. The other half is investing in our instructors to get the best training and experience possible. Below is a list of all our classes, and a summary of each. Our mission is to educate every one of our customers, from wherever they are now to wherever they want to be in the future.

Pistol Training Classes

Introduction to Handgun Safety & Marksmanship

This introductory training course is four hours long, and is a live fire class designed for the individual with very limited or no experience shooting handguns who is interested in learning how to safely and accurately use a handgun for recreational target shooting and/or personal safety protection. Cherokee County Sheriff’s Captain John New teaches this class. The first 2-3 hours, depending on the make up of the class, will be in the classroom learning safety and proper stance, grip, and operation of a handgun. Then you’ll transition to the range. You’ll wear ear and eye protection, and then do basic shooting drills under the supervision of Captain New. If you’ve never shot a gun before, this class is a great place to start.

USCCA Handgun & Defensive Shooting Fundamentals

Maximize Your Training

How many times have you gone to the range, rang up a hundred rounds or so, and thought, “OK, that was fun, but did I improve anything?” This 2-hour course is for shooters who want to start thinking about how to seriously train, rather than just wasting ammo without a plan. By taking this course you will learn how to maximize the effectiveness of your training and practice, both on the range and using dry fire. Maddy Scholar teaches this class.

Intro to Red Dot Pistol Sights Shooting

Upgraded your pistol to red dot sights? Considering the upgrade? It’s very different than using iron sites. This class is a 4-hour live fire class, which emphasizes preparing the shooter for using the red dot sight equipped pistol successfully by developing simple, repeatable motor programs that work under stress. Bring your own pistol equipped with a red dot or use one our pistols equipped with a red dot. Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Yarborough teaches this class.

Concealed Carry Fundamentals

Concealed Carry Fundamentals is not a beginner pistol class and shooters are expected to already have the ability to safely handle and employ a pistol. Concealed Carry Fundamentals is designed for the individual who has an understanding of handgun fundamentals and wants to learn how to safely and effectively carry, conceal, and use a handgun for personal protection. Our holster draw class and qualification are highly recommended before taking this class. Maddy Scholar teaches this class.
