FOREIGN NATIONALS
Foreign Nationals who do not possess a Georgia Weapons Carry Permit must meet the following requirements before being allowed to enjoy shooting time on the SharpShooters range:
- Purchase a GA Hunting License here
- Attend an introductory firearms training class or take a private firearms training lesson from SharpShooters
- Agree to the SharpShooters safety waiver
An alien admitted to the U.S. under a non-immigrant visa is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition unless he or she falls within one of the following exemptions:
- is in possession of a hunting license* or permit lawfully issued by the Federal Government, a State or local government, or an Indian tribe federally recognized by the Bureau of Indian affairs, which is valid and unexpired. The hunting license does not have to be from the State in which the business premise is located;
- was admitted to the United States for lawful hunting or sporting purposes;
- is an official representative of a foreign government who is accredited to the United States Government or the Government’s mission to an international organization having its headquarters in the United States;
- is an official representative of a foreign government who is en route to or from another country to which that alien is accredited;
- is an official of a foreign government or a distinguished foreign visitor who has been so designated by the Department of State;
- is a foreign law enforcement officer of a friendly government, or a distinguished foreign government entering the United States on official law enforcement business; or
- has received a waiver from the Attorney General of the United States.
Permanent resident aliens and aliens lawfully admitted to the U.S. without a visa (e.g. Visa Waiver Program) do not fall within the prohibition, and therefore do not need to meet one of the above exemptions to rent and shoot a firearm.
Currently, the following countries are part of the Visa Waiver Program:
Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Chile, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales).
A penalty for violation of this federal law is imprisonment for 5-10 per occurrence. If you are in the United States from another country and do not meet the criteria for permitted persons, you may not shoot at SharpShooters USA.
